My Online debate competition experience.

My name is Praneet and I am student of Standard 7th, I am sharing my experience of participating in an online debate competition as it was the first time I participated in an online debate.

The topic of the debate was “Plastic is a boon or bane”. This debate was conducted to shortlist the students for the Inter-school debate. I was very excited after knowing about the topic and its purpose. Intimation was given at very short notice, we got only 5 days to prepare for the debate.  

Taking it as a challenge, I started preparing for the debate along with my friends. Total 7 students were in my team.  We exchanged our ideas through online meetings (Zoom meetings). After preparation, we practiced our speech at the Zoom meetings and also, helped each other to improve. Finally, the day came for the debate, it was pretty hard because it was online and a new way of debating for me; it was hard because everyone was speaking at the same time, and in the school debate we never did like this.

I presented against the use of plastic. When the results came out, I was happy that I got selected for the Inter-school.

I prepared very hard for the Inter-school, but could not make it to the next round which was for State level.

To conclude, I learned a lot during preparation and presentation for this debate. I learned how to help each other in a team. I learned that by collective efforts we can achieve any goals.
