Yanam – Godavari River Front

Yanam is one of the regions in the Union Territory of Puducherry. It is situated on the East Coast of the Indian Peninsula, bounded on all sides by the East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh State.

It was formerly a French colony for nearly 200 years, and, is still sometimes known as “French Yanam”. It possesses a blend of French culture and the Telugu culture prevailing in Andhra Pradesh.

The river Godavari flows through Yanam, the river Front is very beautiful. The statue of ‘Christ the Redeemer’ is a must watch. The river front also has ‘Bharat Mata Statue’. A stroll on the beach is refreshing. Boating is a good option. One can also go boating for Back waters, that takes you to the Estuary where the river meets the sea.
