I dreamt a dream !

I dreamt a dream about you,
Camped under the crimson sky.
I dreamt that
You were perfect and that you were mine.
I dreamt a dream
About you and me –
My life’s work that until then
Only I could see.
I dreamt a dream and made you
Brick by brick
Never slept, nor heard the clock tick.
Every time an adult bothered me,
I’d fish out my many books,
And don a stern face and a distant look.
Every time I looked out the window,
I painted you
Little by little.
With each brush stroke
You came alive –
Little by little.
One morning,
The eyes were done;
And
I said to myself “aren’t they just fine”?
I dreamt a dream once,
Untouched by concerns or opinions outside;
Majestic, beautiful, And the whole deal!
I dreamt a dream once,
Every inch of it, as it should feel,
I dreamt a dream,
A dream worthy of the real.
