DISTANCE!

Distance!
Perhaps we’ll meet next year
If not this.
Let’s not romanticize distance,
More than we romanticize
The space we have come to share,
Despite it.
When I ache to look at you up close,
I think of how close we have come,
Having needed no more than a few months,
An adequate data pack and
A few phone calls.
Let’s not just see through the lenses,
Of a pandemic that’s only good at,
Dissipating fear,
Like the spores of its infection,
It hasn’t taken much from us after all.
